Designer
Born
in Hialeah, Florida and raised in the Dominican Republic, Ayleen Perez has been calling South Florida home again since 2004.
Ayleen took an interest in design from an early age and gradually became established as an authority in the subject relying
mostly on word of mouth. In 2004 she returns to South Florida eager to get involved in Miami’s growing art and design
scene. In 2007 she founded Funktional Interiors; without a lead, a dime or a contract, instead, she had a vision and a desire
to see it come to life. Since then, Funktional has become a popular option for those looking for a functional and creative
interior space at an affordable price.
Company Profile
From its inception in the competitive
Miami scene, Funktional has striven to break the stereotype that interior design is a luxury that only the rich may need or
can afford. We work with all budgets and enjoy all projects: from a one day mini makeover using what a client already owns
to elaborate creations starting from scratch. Funktional’s design model evolves within the principles of Ergonomics. The
basic principle of ergonomics concerns designing and arranging elements in the space in question so that these elements and
the people that use them interact most efficiently and safely. This application is what makes the space functional for the
client’s lifestyle. Once the functionality of the space is completed, the styling process begins. Most spaces are decorated
based on a favorite object or a sample of fabric; it is important to create a space that is efficient but that is in harmony
with its owners. Funktional has been very well accepted in the community and is known for its ability to ignore trends and
design spaces efficiently to reflect the owners true desires and comfort.
